The 2019 session of the Tel Aviv University Trustees was concluded in a festive event at the Botanical Garden, which was given a new name: "The Yehuda Naftali Botanical Garden".
The event took place in the middle of May 2019, in the presence of the outgoing president of the university Prof. Yosef Kleftar and in the presence of Mr. Yehuda Naftali, who chose to contribute to the development and promotion of the botanical garden. As a token of appreciation the garden was named after him.
The recognition ceremony was the first milestone in the garden development project. To mark the event, a spiral acacia tree (Accacia raddiana) was planted in the garden's entrance, along which other local Israeli trees are displayed.
