Community Power in Action: Mobilizing for the Next Generation of Scientists

An inside look at the meeting where industry leaders and Faculty heads join forces to shape the future of academia

The Senior Alumni Advisory Board Meeting

The Industry Relations Unit at the Faculty of Life Sciences hosted the second meeting of its Senior Alumni Advisory Board, convened alongside Sigalit Ben Hayoun, Head of the Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization. The gathering proved once again the extraordinary strength of our alumni network and its ongoing dedication to the academic home where their professional journeys began.

Bringing together senior executives who currently spearhead Israel’s biotech, biomed, pharma, and venture capital ecosystems, the board met to actively contribute to the Faculty's growth and strategic direction. Rather than offering high level guidance from afar, these industry leaders are building a hands-on partnership. They are leveraging their practical experience, market insights, and professional networks to enrich academic instruction, connect students directly to the industry, and open new doors for young researchers.

The session was led by faculty and university officials including Dean Prof. Abdussalam Azem, Vice Dean for Research Prof. Marcelo Ehrlich, Prof. Yariv Wine, Head of Administration Itay Menahem, and Director of Industry Relations Dr. Liat Oren-Young. Participating advisory board members included Yael Elroy, Partner at Stradom Ventures, Dr. Anat Lea Bonshtien, Investor and Partner at Mobilion Ventures, Dr. Alessio D. Nahmad, Research Director at the Integrative Cancer Institute at Rabin Medical Center and Co-founder of Tabby Therapeutics, and Dr. Anat Boehm-Cagan, Government Affairs and Regulatory Lead at AstraZeneca.

For the Industry Relations Unit and the Faculty as a whole, this deep commitment from senior alumni serves as a premier strategic asset. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all board members for their time, leadership, and shared dedication to training the next generation of scientific leaders.
