From the wild emmer discovery to unlocking the wheat genome
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you to the Conference “From wild emmer discovery to unlocking the wheat genome”.
In 1906, Aaron Aaronsohn's discovery of wild emmer wheat growing in Rosh Pinna, Israel, created a stir in the botanical world. The workshop will commemorate 110 years to this discovery and acknowledge the importance of wild emmer to wheat research and breeding.
On the agenda:
The first meeting of the International Wild Emmer Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium (WEWseq) Themes:
♦Wheat genomics ♦ Wild emmer wheat and biotic stress ♦ Wild emmer wheat and abiotic stress ♦ Beyond genomics ♦ Exploring wheat wild relatives ♦1 day excursion to explore wild relatives of wheat
The conference will take place over three days in three locations:
Tuesday, April 12 2016: Beit Aaronson, Zichron Yaakov
Wednesday, April 13 2016: Rehovot, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
