Manna Center Announces Call for Scholarships for Research in Kenya

Two scholarships will be granted to eligible TAU undergraduate students for Summer 2014

08 April 2014

The Manna Program for Food Safety and Security is happy to announce the opening of a new call for scholarship applications.

As part of our partnership with the BecA-ILRI Hub in Kenya, we are offering 2 scholarships for undergraduate students to conduct research in Kenya during the summer 2014.

The successful applicants will have joint supervision and mentorship from research scientists from TAU and BecA-ILRI Hub. Depending on the timing of the residence, the students may benefit from short skill enhancement courses offered under the African Bioscience Challenge Fund, which is managed by BecA-ILRI Hub.

Research at the BecA-ILRI Hub brings together over 40 research institutions, universities, government ministries, regional agencies and non-governmental organizations across 16 countries in Africa, Australia, Europe and USA. The projects, which include national partner-led research projects, are demand driven, responding to the high priority themes identified through the new AU/NEPAD Science and Technology strategy and the CAADP agenda for increasing the productivity of the food and agricultural systems in Africa:

  • Crop Improvement
  • Food Safety and Improved Nutrition
  • Livestock Productivity
  • Climate Change Mitigation
  • Low input crop for Alternative Nutrition and Income Generation

Application deadline is May 2, 2014.
