Manna Center Program's 2015 Call for Research Proposals

The Manna Center Program for Food Safety and Security at Tel Aviv University invites applications for one-year research grants in the field of “Food Security”. Applications should deal with legal, ethical, economic, social, health, environmental, or policy issues pertinent to the broader field of “Food Security.

Projects will be funded up 15,000 NIS for a one year period. Funding provided by this Call is intended to enhance the capacity of the applicants to carry out research in Food Security. Any activity, including scholarships, stipends, translations, databases, etc, may be paid for by the grant provided that it assists in leading to a published report.

It is the intention of the Program to support 1-2 projects. However, the final number of projects to be sponsored will be determined based on budgetary considerations and the quality of the applications. The interest and level of applications will also influence future calls.

Any Principal Investigator affiliated with any of the academic units within TAU is eligible to apply. Evaluation of the proposals will be by an ad hoc committee setup by the Program.

The evaluation process will be based on:

  1. Relevance to Food Security;
  2. Capability and experience of the applicant. Prior experience in Food Security research is NOT a prerequisite; 
  3. Significance of the problem being addressed, and the potential impact of the proposed approach on solving it;
  4. Clarity and quality of the research proposal itself;
  5. Feasibility of the research project;
  6. Practical applicability of expected research findings.
